Lexus CT200 2017 - Hybrid Cars - Rating: 6/10
Toyota luxury branded version of its cars is Lexus. It has several models ranging from CT, ES, GS, EX etx. This article is about their smaller hybrid version CT200. The CT200 is a hatchback only hybrid version with 1.8 direct engine and an electrical support engine making it a hybrid. The electrical engine is charged mostly by breaking acceleration either by engine braking or pedal breaking, but also by the petrol engine generator. In average environment, with temperature of 30 degrees Celsius or 80+ Fahrenheit, the average fuel consumption is 42+ mpg but of course varies depending on climate. The car itself is a Toyota Prius base with a Lexus cover. In general that means that the car has the same performance and versatility as any Toytota Prius of that year in a Lexus shell. What you gain with Lexis is better sound insulation, design and looks.
The Lexus CT200 look good compared with Toyota Prius, though the 2017 version of Toyota Prius does not look good cause its optimized for air streamline.
I myself is currently owning a driving a Lexus CT200 - 2012 version as of 2017, for commuting to/from my daily work and I can tell by my experience that when I don't have to use the AC compression, the average consumption is closer to 45 miles/gallon(3.8 liters). During the warmer summer months, the average consumption is more of 40 miles/gallon(3.8 liters). In some rare highway/state highway driving with less braking, I can get to 50 miles/gallon.
In general I think the Lexus CT200 is a very agile and flexible car. The hatchback allows you to have a much more flexible cargo environment compared to a sedan. You can fold the back seat to a position so that you can utilize the full length and height of the car to transport up to 8 feet equipment.
In general the Lexus CT200 looks GOOD compared to any current or previous Toyota Prius, so if you have the extra budget for an hybrid compared to Prius, then go for the Lexus CT200.
